How long have you been in the industry?
I have been working in the AEC industry for 8 years, specializing in K-12 Education Design for the full 8 years.

How would you describe your approach to projects?
In short: Pragmatic. I fundamentally believe that a building needs to meet the needs of the Owner first. Once those are defined and understood, then I begin exploring different forms and arrangements of spaces, but always checking back to ensure that the needs of the Owner are being met.

What is your favorite part about working on projects?
My favorite thing about working on projects (professionally and personally) is finding creative solutions to problems. It may be nerdy but I get a great deal of satisfaction from designing a detail that solves multiple issues or a space that can serve multiple functions.

How do you want clients to feel when they work with you?
Comfortable and trusting. I strive to have solutions to problems before the client knows there is a problem. My responsibility, ultimately, is to provide solutions.

How do you spend your time outside of work?
I spend most of my time outside of ACI Boland building PC’s, gaming on PC’s with friends here and abroad, working on home renovations, and exploring the outdoors with my wife. I also dream of one day winning the lottery so I can buy a property, 10-15+ acres, further outside the city.

What advice would you provide someone interested in architecture?
My advice for anyone interested in pursuing Architecture is simple; find varied projects that interest and challenge you. It will grant insight into what direction you want to steer your career. Some projects you were confident about may now longer entice you when they prove challenging. The opposite may also be true, certain projects may prove interesting due to the challenge. The only way to find out is to just jump in.
