"Educational Mall" Layout

description

This innovative high school design is centralized by a spinal corridor “educational mall.” The educational mall can be entered from two ends, administration at the main entry on one end and a secure visitor entrance on the other. Specific spaces branching off the corridor include classrooms situated into wings of departments, centralized library media center, performing arts auditorium with supporting classrooms, kitchen area, field house, and athletics areas.

The athletic gyms and auditorium are separated to comfortably accommodate simultaneous events. The kitchen cafeteria is located between for use by both spaces as needed.

The school’s curriculum is designed with career path classes catering to local business needs. Examples include a “financial cube” with teachings to mimic the needs of “wall street,” a refined culinary arts offering, and a high technology foreign language lab that includes a central kitchen to explore the eating cultures of the language countries of origin.
