In outpatient surgery, an Ambulatory Surgery Center’s (ASC) physical environment must directly support its business model. Because ownership structures dictate everything from patient volume to regulatory compliance, we optimize our architectural approach by tailoring designs to the unique operational requirements of the three primary ASC models.

JOINT VENTURE ASCs

These facilities feature shared ownership between physicians and hospitals, sometimes involving a third-party management company. The design balances a highly efficient, physician-friendly environment with the robust compliance standards required by hospitals.

  • Key Advantage: Combines strong physician engagement with hospital resources and enhanced contracting power.

CORPORATE & MANAGEMENT COMPANY ASCs

Owned or operated by specialized ASC management companies, these centers are frequently part of regional or national networks. Design focuses heavily on reproducibility, utilizing scalable layouts and standardized spatial footprints.

  • Key Advantage: Highly optimized, uniform operations that easily scale across a broader network.

PHYSICIAN-OWNED ASCs

Owned primarily by doctors or surgeon groups, these facilities are laser-focused on efficiency and outpatient care. The design is customized to streamline the specific, high-volume procedures the physicians perform regularly.

  • Key Advantage: Maximum operational autonomy and workflows optimized for specific surgeon preferences.
