Active learning has become increasingly common in the education field. Christian Brothers College High School has utilized this style of learning in their curriculum for years, but recently recognized a need for focused space.

Alongside Christian Brothers College, ACI Boland Architects redesigned and repurposed the school’s library to give students a place to learn, create, and make. The new “Innovation Commons” includes a variety of collaboration spaces to promote team learning, a maker space to encourage curiosity, and a robotics lab that integrates another element of technology into the teaching environment.

The carefully considered interior design highly complements the school’s existing brand identity and color palette, while providing a surprising pop of color. Similarly, the multi-functional furniture selection and available seating options ensure students have opportunities to utilize the area in a way that relates to their specific learning style.
